Schedule

This is a very flexible schedule, with plenty of room to go with the flow of the class. But in general, this is our day:

Circle Time: Here we do the calendar and weather. And then talk about our what is set out for the day.

Free Play: This is the majority of our day. The students are free to move around to the different areas. The library and house area are always open. Some days we will open the blocks, or get out the Legos, or other toys we rotate through. There is always an art project, sometimes with a certain product in mind (that we either hang up on our bulletin board or keep for our books). With these projects I encourage everyone to do them. But most days will just be an open ended project for those that wish to do it. The sensory table changes weekly, but some favorites are water, rice, sand, shaving cream and water beads. I have either a literacy or math activity set out also.

Clean up: This is actually an important part of the day, that teaches the students to be responsible for their surroundings. When the bell rings, we start cleaning up.

Circle Time: Then we head in for another circle time. While either Miss Casey or Miss Heidi gets snacks ready, we finish up with our daily jobs, that include the compliment chain, alphabet helper, song and story helper. I’ll also cover any specific skill or concept we are working on. For example, we will make patterns, or do rhyming games.

Snacks

Ending circle time: Here we wrap up our day and get ready to go outside, or do other large motor actives inside if the weather is bad.
