December

Most of the time, I have open ended art set out. We do painting or I just set out our art bins and let the kids create. But sometimes I’ll have more of a craft set out. And in December that happens more often, but even though there is an end product in mind, I still let the kids have full range of what they want their piece to look like. I especially love the creativity with the reindeers.

We also had some fun in the sensory table and with playdough. I just had to take a before picture of the rice in the table, because it looked so pretty and I knew within a few minutes it would look like the after picture, as it should.

I put out our little Christmas trees to decorate and this year I added some old stockings. I had visions of the kids pretending fill them. But again, I need a reminder that it is not about me or what I think will be fun. The stockings and trees pretty much just sat there the first day. But the second day they were discovered and played with, and as always, much better then I had first envisioned.

This year we made Gingerbread houses. There were some houses with lots of candy and some with just a few, but there was fun had by all.
