This month we highlighted the letters N, R and C. And for the most part I don’t usually have art projects associated with the letters anymore, because honestly, that’s not the best way to learn letters. But I did have these left over Ns and we were playing with noodles in the sensory table, so I set it out and let whoever wanted to, do it. The noodles in the sensory table was a bigger hit. I usually change sensory table weekly, but I ended up leaving the noodles in for two weeks, but to switch it up, I added spaghetti, which was a fun twist. We also had gloop which was a lot of fun to play with.
We also did some fun art. Christmas trees, wreaths, and Santas to name a few.
Some other things the students did-some cool tower building, a girl making invitations for her birthday party 🙂 and some magnet sorting
Sensory Snack-this year I decided to do a different thing for snacks on our Christmas party. Instead of frosting cookies , which half them end up in the garbage anyway, I did a sensory snack. We popped popcorn and as it popped we talked about which sense we were using, we heard it pop, we smelled it and we saw it. Then we got to eat it for snacks, along with some other things that feel and taste different. I think the students enjoyed it.
We also had our Christmas program the last day of class. I was so proud of all the children. I never know how programs are going to go, either everyone sings, no one sings or anything in between. This year most of the students sang and they did a great job playing the instruments. I hope everyone is enjoying the break. I am, but I also can’t wait to see everyone again!
