Fall and Fire Safety

We had some fall fun, even though the leaves hadn’t turned quite yet. I set out leaves and paint, with the idea of making leaf prints, which some did. But it was much more fun painting the leaves, so that worked too. I have discovered over the years, that no matter what art project I put out, more often then not, the kids just want to paint. So, in keeping with my goal of letting the students own their learning, we will be painting most days. I will try to mix it up with different materials, just to keep it fresh.

We went on our first field trip to the Fire Station, where we saw a lot and learned a lot too. It is obvious that that the children learned, when back at school during play, it’s all about calling 911 and getting out of the house πŸ™‚ We also made some creative fire engines.

We did some journal writing, worked on small motor skills and lots of social negotiating as we played.Β  Plus we took advantage of the nice weather to play outside.
