It was all about apples this week. We created apple trees, painted with apples, sorted apples, and made applesauce. I usually have open ended art projects, but once a month I have the students do an art project with a specific end in mind to hang up in the classroom. But although the instructions were to make an apple tree, you can clearly see that it’s still pretty open ended. I absolutely love the end results. Each tree is unique, just like its artist. On Thursday we brought apples to share. Before making applesauce we sorted and examined the apples. Except for the few apples that had bites taken out of them (sometimes it’s just too hard to wait).
We also did lots of other fun stuff….painted on tinfoil (and not all art work can be taken home, I love the design made on our art palette), played with shaving cream, played school, and, every once in awhile, we use the manipulatives in the suggested way 😉
And we also took advantage of possibly the last few nice warm days by playing outside. The last picture is of us looking at a grasshopper.
